Dog Training

Training Philosophy

If you were to place a label on my training style, I am best described as a balanced concept trainer. Meaning, I use an appropriate mix of training tools including treats, games, toys, collars, and love. I believe dog training tools are communication methods and I will work to speak the same language as your dog -- whether that is games and treats or prong and e-collars.

Training Methodology:

  • Train the dog in front of you! There is not a one-size fits all approach that can be taken towards training. I will tailor a training plan specifically for the goals and desires you have for your dog.

  • There's a game for that! Concept training is revolutionizing the dog training world. Rather than teaching your dog a series of cues and commands, I teach concepts that you and your dog can nearly effortlessly translate to new situations. And it's so much fun, your dog won't even realize he's learning!

  • It is okay to tell a dog "no," and mean it. Just as it's okay to tell a child "no" and redirect them before they run into the street, it's okay to tell a dog "no" and redirect them towards something more desirable.

  • Dog training is fun and interactive! I don't believe in "arm chair training." If I'm looking for a specific behavior from a dog, I will work through it with them to model that behavior and set clear expectations with them.

  • The goal of dog training is a well-mannered dog who is in tune with their handler. And, their handler is you! You will be actively involved in your dog's training plan and my training will be as much for your benefit as theirs.

Most importantly, dog training is a journey and I'm excited to join you on yours!
